Theory — Nhận diện 4 dạng đề Task 2

IELTS Writing Task 2 có 4 dạng đề chính. Nhận sai dạng = viết lạc đề = tối đa band 5.0 cho tiêu chí Task Response. Vì vậy đây là bài học quan trọng nhất trước khi viết bất kỳ bài nào.

Dạng 1 — Opinion (Nêu quan điểm)

Đề bảo bạn nêu quan điểm cá nhân đồng ý hay không đồng ý.

Keyword nhận diện:

• "Do you agree or disagree?"
• "To what extent do you agree or disagree?"
• "What is your opinion?"

Ví dụ đề:

Some people believe that university education should be free for all students. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Cách viết: chọn 1 quan điểm rõ ràng (agree / disagree / partly agree), giữ nhất quán từ intro đến conclusion.

Dạng 2 — Discussion (Thảo luận hai chiều)

Đề đưa ra hai ý kiến trái ngược, yêu cầu bạn trình bày cả hai rồi mới nêu quan điểm riêng.

Keyword nhận diện:

• "Discuss both views and give your opinion."
• "Discuss both these views."

Ví dụ đề:

Some people think that children should learn a foreign language at primary school, while others believe it should only start at secondary school. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Cách viết: 1 body paragraph cho view A, 1 body paragraph cho view B, opinion riêng lồng trong conclusion hoặc intro + conclusion.

Dạng 3 — Problem-Solution (Nguyên nhân — Giải pháp)

Đề nêu một vấn đề, yêu cầu bạn phân tích nguyên nhân và đề xuất giải pháp.

Keyword nhận diện:

• "What are the causes and what solutions can you suggest?"
• "What problems does this cause? What can be done to solve them?"
• "Why is this happening? How can it be addressed?"

Ví dụ đề:

Traffic congestion is becoming a serious problem in many big cities. What are the causes and what measures can be taken to solve this problem?

Cách viết: 1 body cho causes (2-3 nguyên nhân), 1 body cho solutions (2-3 giải pháp tương ứng).

Dạng 4 — Advantages-Disadvantages (Lợi — Hại)

Đề nêu một xu hướng / hiện tượng, yêu cầu bạn phân tích mặt lợi và mặt hại.

Keyword nhận diện:

• "Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?"
• "Discuss the advantages and disadvantages."
• "What are the benefits and drawbacks?"

Ví dụ đề:

More and more people are working from home instead of in an office. Do the advantages of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

Cách viết:

• Nếu đề hỏi "outweigh" → phải cân nhắc và ra kết luận rõ ràng mặt nào nặng hơn
• Nếu chỉ "discuss" → cân bằng cả 2, không cần chốt

Typing — Gõ 4 câu introduction template

Gõ chính xác từng câu dưới đây (không copy-paste). Mỗi câu là template introduction cho 1 dạng.

Template 1 — Opinion:

It is often argued that [topic]. In my opinion, [your stance] because [reason 1] and [reason 2].

Template 2 — Discussion:

The question of whether [topic] has sparked considerable debate. While some believe [view A], others contend that [view B]. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own view.

Template 3 — Problem-Solution:

In recent years, [problem] has become a growing concern in many countries. This essay will explore the primary causes of this issue and propose several practical solutions.

Template 4 — Advantages-Disadvantages:

The trend of [phenomenon] has gained momentum in recent decades. This essay will analyse both the advantages and disadvantages before concluding whether the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

Speaking — Đọc to 4 template

Đọc to từng template 3 lần. Ghi âm lại, nghe lại để check phát âm các từ khóa:

• "argued" /ˈɑːɡ.juːd/
• "considerable" /kənˈsɪd.ər.ə.bəl/
• "perspectives" /pərˈspek.tɪvz/
• "phenomenon" /fəˈnɒm.ɪ.nən/
• "outweigh" /ˌaʊtˈweɪ/

Mục tiêu: nhớ template qua cả 3 kênh — mắt (đọc), tay (gõ), tai (nghe chính mình).

Grammar — Sửa lỗi thesis statement

Thesis statement là câu nêu quan điểm rõ ràng ở cuối intro. Sai thesis = giám khảo không biết bạn ủng hộ bên nào.

Sửa 5 câu sau (một câu có nhiều lỗi có thể):

1. I think free university is good. → Thesis quá đơn giản, không rõ mức độ đồng ý. Sửa: I strongly agree that tertiary education should be made available to all students at no cost.

2. In this essay, I will discuss about both views. → "discuss about" là lỗi (không có "about" sau "discuss"). Sửa: In this essay, I will discuss both views before presenting my own opinion.

3. Working from home have many advantage. → Chủ ngữ số ít, "advantage" thiếu "s". Sửa: Working from home has many advantages.

4. Traffic is a big problem so we need solve it. → Câu ghép cần "to" trước "solve". Sửa: Traffic is a major problem that requires urgent solutions.

5. Some people think A, but I think B, but also A is good. → Quan điểm không nhất quán, dùng "but" hai lần. Sửa: While some argue that A is preferable, I believe B offers greater benefits overall.
