The person I'd like to talk about is my high school English
teacher, Mrs. Nguyen. To give some context, I was quite a shy
student when I first entered her class in tenth grade, and
English was actually my weakest subject at the time.

What really stands out about her is her ability to make even the
most reluctant students feel genuinely capable. She had a way of
challenging you without ever being intimidating. I remember one
particular incident when she assigned me to lead a class debate
on climate change — something I'd have refused outright with any
other teacher. But because she believed in me, I somehow believed
in myself.

Beyond just teaching grammar, she instilled in me the value of
speaking up for what I believe in. She broadened my horizons by
introducing me to literature I'd never have picked up on my own,
and she pushed me — gently — out of my comfort zone at exactly
the right moments.

Looking back, she was a truly pivotal figure in my education.
Her influence has shaped how I approach learning to this day —
with curiosity rather than fear.

PART 3 — Discussion (abstract questions)

Q: “Do you think social media has more advantages or disadvantages for young people?”🔊🎤🌐

That's a really thought-provoking question. There's no simple
answer, but from my perspective, the disadvantages tend to
outweigh the benefits, at least for the youngest users.

For instance, there's compelling evidence that excessive social
media use is linked to rising anxiety and disrupted sleep among
teenagers — a Stanford study last year found that heavy users
were nearly twice as likely to report clinical symptoms of
depression. That's genuinely alarming.

Having said that, I don't want to paint too bleak a picture.
Social media does allow young people to stay connected with
distant relatives, explore diverse worldviews, and even build
early careers as creators. So it really depends on how
mindfully it's used.

Ultimately, I think the issue isn't the technology itself — it's
the lack of digital literacy education. If schools and families
did more to teach responsible use, I'd feel much more positive
about it.
